Where to go For Pasta in the West Village (NYC)

New York City has some amazing Italian Restaurants and we think the West Village has the best ones! Here are our top 10 spots in the West Village to get the best pasta!

Our Top 10

I Sodi

I Sodi

This is Madison's favorite Italian spot! Get the artichokes, the best lasagna in the city, lemon pappardelle, and wash it all down with a negroni!

Don Angie

Don Angie

Don Angie is well known in the pasta game and actually has 1 Michelin Star. Same team as Quality Italian, Quality Bistro, etc. Must gets: the chrysanthemum salad, garlic flatbread, japanese sweet potatoes, and the lasagna for two (but you knew that ;))

Via Carota

Via Carota

Via Carota is from the same team as our beloved I Sodi and they're known for their cacio e pepe. Their cacio e pepe and the rest of their pastas are excellent, but their salads and veggies are AMAZING as well!

Malatesta Trattoria

This is such an underrated West Village Italian spot! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu!

L’Artusi

L’Artusi

This West Village staple is doing Italian right. Always start with their mushrooms topped with a fried egg. They rotate their pastas often, but you can’t go wrong with their cacio e pepe and white bolognese. However, we can’t dine here without ordering the hanger steak with crispy potatoes.

Carbone

We have a love hate relationship with Carbone. It’s so sceney and fussy, but their food is actually pretty good. It may be overpriced, but we love the caesar salad, spicy rigatoni, and veal parm. Also, even if you’re not a carrot cake lover… you should order theirs because it’s pretty great.

Bird Dog

Bird Dog

This small southern influenced spot is serving homemade pasta and an amazing brunch. It originated as a popup before becoming a permanent West Village restaurant. The move here is to do one of their tasting menus and trust when we say you will NOT leave hungry!

Barbuto

Barbuto

This beloved spot closed during covid and reopened a few blocks away. The charm of dining in a converted garage was lost, but their food is still excellent. Order the kale salad, cacio e pepe, gnocchi, and the famous roasted chicken. They serve some great desserts as well.

Fiaschetteria “Pistoia”

This small spot is also serving a small menu of amazing homemade fresh pastas. They also have an East Village location.

Anton’s

Anton’s is very old school and is serving quality Italian in a cozy spot. Don’t skip their angel hair with breadcrumbs.
